1. About These Terms
These Terms and Conditions govern the relationship between Tanjung (“we”, “us”, “our”) and any person (“you”, “the client”) who submits a timepiece for service or restoration, or who uses our website at tanjungmy.pro.
By leaving a timepiece with us or submitting a service enquiry, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not proceed with a service request.
Tanjung is a watch and clock repair atelier located at 92 Jalan Tun Abdul Razak, 80100 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia. We operate under Malaysian law.
2. Services Offered
We offer the following services, subject to technical feasibility assessment at intake:
- Carriage Clock Restoration — movement disassembly, cleaning, striking train attention, platform escapement service where present, case and glass work, reassembly, lubrication, and regulated testing. Estimated window: four to ten weeks depending on complexity. From RM 1,420.
- Crystal Replacement Service — measurement, sourcing, fitting, gasket inspection, and pressure testing where applicable. Most replacements completed within one to two weeks. Vintage or non-standard profiles may require extended sourcing. From RM 810.
- Movement Service and Regulation — disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning, inspection, worn component replacement where parts are available, fresh lubrication, and regulation across positions and temperatures. Includes a written work summary. Estimated window: four to six weeks. From RM 1,340.
All prices listed are indicative. A final quote is provided after assessment of the specific piece. We will not proceed with work beyond the agreed scope without your approval.
3. Intake and Assessment
Submission of Items
All items accepted for service must be submitted in person at our workshop or by prior arrangement. We do not accept items sent by post or courier without prior written agreement.
Condition on Receipt
We document the condition of each piece at intake. Any pre-existing damage, missing components, or wear will be noted. We are not responsible for conditions that were present at intake and documented as such.
Assessment Period
An initial assessment of the piece will typically be completed within five to seven working days of intake. If the assessment reveals complexity or parts requirements that affect the quoted price or timeline, we will contact you before proceeding.
Acceptance of Quotation
Work begins only after you have accepted the assessment report and agreed to the quoted price in writing (email is acceptable). Verbal acceptance alone is not sufficient for us to begin work.
4. Pricing and Payment
Indicative Prices
Prices shown on our website and in initial communications are indicative and based on typical examples of each service. The actual price for your piece will be confirmed after assessment.
Additional Work
If additional work is identified during service — for example, a worn component not apparent until disassembly — we will contact you with a revised estimate. We will not carry out additional work without your prior approval.
Payment Terms
Payment is due in full upon collection of the piece. We accept cash and bank transfer. For work quoted at RM 2,000 or above, we may request a deposit of 30% before work begins.
Uncollected Items
Items not collected within 60 days of notification that work is complete will attract a storage charge of RM 5 per day. Items uncollected after 180 days from notification may, after reasonable written notice, be treated as abandoned and may be disposed of or sold to recover costs. Proceeds in excess of costs will be held for a further 12 months pending your claim.
5. Turnaround Times
All turnaround times quoted are estimates based on typical workload and parts availability. They are not contractual commitments. Delays may arise from:
- Parts availability for vintage or uncommon movements
- Additional complexity identified during disassembly
- Supplier delays outside our control
- Public holidays observed in Johor
We will keep you informed of any significant change to the expected timeline. If a delay is substantial and you wish to withdraw the piece, we will return it in its current state of service and invoice only for work completed up to that point.
6. Care and Handling
Duty of Care
We handle every piece submitted to us with care appropriate to its type and condition. We carry professional indemnity coverage for work carried out on items in our possession.
Limitations
We are not responsible for pre-existing internal damage discovered during disassembly that could not have been apparent from external inspection at intake. In such cases, we will contact you to discuss options before proceeding.
Vintage and Fragile Components
For pieces of significant age, some components may be in a fragile state that only becomes apparent during service. We will take all reasonable precautions, but we are not liable for the failure of a component that was already at or near the end of its service life prior to work commencing.
Third-Party Modifications
We reserve the right to decline service on pieces that have been previously modified or repaired in a manner that creates unacceptable technical risk. We will advise you of this at or following assessment.
7. Service Period
All completed work carries a service period of 12 months from the date of collection, covering defects in workmanship and materials supplied by us. This service period does not cover:
- Damage arising from impact, water ingress (where the case design does not provide a seal), or mishandling after collection
- Normal wear on components such as crown seals, crystal coatings, or straps
- Failure of original components not replaced during service
- Issues arising from use of the piece outside its rated conditions
If a concern arises within the service period, please contact us promptly. We will assess the piece and advise on the appropriate course of action at no charge for workmanship-related issues.
8. Ownership and Title
By submitting a piece for service, you confirm that you are the lawful owner of the piece, or that you have the express authority of the owner to authorise work on it. If it later becomes apparent that a piece is the subject of a legal dispute, reported theft, or similar matter, we will cooperate with relevant authorities as required by Malaysian law.
We do not accept responsibility for pieces submitted without valid proof of ownership where this subsequently becomes relevant.

We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special loss, including loss of use or sentimental value, except where such limitation is not permitted by law.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
